Come to Colorado State University for two extraordinary events with Dr. Virginia Broffitt Kunzer, Associate Professor of Flute at Auburn University and the 2025 CSU Flute Studio Guest Artist. On Monday, February 17th, 3:30–5:30 PM, flutists and music enthusiasts can attend a masterclass where Dr. Kunzer will share her expertise while working with talented CSU flute students. Then, on Tuesday, February 18th, 7:30 PM, experience an inspiring recital at the CSU Organ Recital Hall featuring Dr. Kunzer alongside CSU faculty artists Juhyun Lee (piano), Meredith Becha-Wells (cello), and Ysmael Reyes (flute). The program will include captivating works by Bohuslav Martinů, Frank Martin, Delphine von Schauroth, and Emil Kronke.

Dr. Virginia Broffitt Kunzer has built a successful and diverse career as a soloist, orchestral and chamber musician, and teacher. She is the Professor of Flute at Auburn University and the Principal Flute of the Symphony of Northwest Arkansas. She has mentored young musicians during the Hot Springs Music Festival and is a founding member of both the Pangaea Chamber Players and the Elicio Winds. Before joining Auburn, she taught at Oklahoma State University and Western Illinois University, and performed with the Camerata Woodwind Quintet. Her past orchestral experience includes positions with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic and the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra. She also won the National Flute Association’s Young Artist Competition.
Virginia has performed and taught throughout the United States, Asia, and Europe. In January 2021, she released an album with the Pangaea Chamber Players [Navona], followed by a solo album with pianist Tammie Walker [MSR], and a chamber album with the Elicio Winds [Blue Griffin], both released in 2023. She has several published flute and piano arrangements through Alry Publications.
Originally from Iowa City, Iowa, Virginia holds degrees from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (BM) and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (MM and DMA). She studied under Randy Bowman, Dr. Tadeu Coelho, Jack Wellbaum, and Dr. Irna Priore. For more information, visit www.virginiabroffitt.com.
